York Bing Oh. Designer/maker based in Antwerp, Belgium. Atelier Oh is officially set up in 2020.
He has an interest in objects, typologies, prototypes and their relationships with the space/context/setting. He sees craft as the dexterity in putting and assembling things and ideas together. In his practice, he investigates tectonic and assembly ideas through small scale constructions. His projects often embrace the economy of means by optimising materials through design, making and reusing.
The projects of the atelier include architecture design and competitions, interiors, furnitures and objects, exhibition design and installations. As a carpenter, he builds the furnitures that he designs for commissioned projects and for development of prototypes. He collaborates frequently with other architects, designers, artists and makers.
York Bing Oh obtained B.A. (Architecture) NUS (Singapore) in 2003 and MSc (Architecture) TU Delft (Netherlands) in 2007. He has work experiences as architect in Singapore and Belgium. Between 2012 and 2019, he was an architect in Belgium, working on projects of various scale and type.
