060 Corner/center-piece/post
2023
Corner piece. Center post. Corner post. Center piece.
A contextual piece that searches for opportunities to engage the context. 3 wooden planks turn 90 degrees along the center axis and make corners. A round rod situated comfortably between wooden planks makes a strange detail. As a center piece, it looks awkward, seemingly in search of a corner. As a corner piece, it looks like a post that wraps around the corner. A piece which referred to practical details but which evades a defined practical use.
The basic detail is derived from looking at the door jamb (with a door stop) detail, basically a thin strip attached to a plank that ‘stops’ the door. But in this case, the ‘door stop’ is mirrored diagonally, holding the planks in between. The planks are rotated 90 degrees and creates ‘corners’. It is like a door jamb that turns a corner. In between the planks, a rod is inserted which further expressed the movement of the x, y axis.
Materials: New and re-used wood from previous projects.
Work is shown in collective exposition organised and curated by Fake Authentic Gallery in Museo Arte e Scienza during Milan Design Week 2023.

As to the question from the gallery whether we need another chair or not, the reply is a piece with no evident function. A tall object that fills up a corner, or takes up space in the room. A totem.
