Festival'and 4.0
"THINK! DESIGN! BUILD! “FestivaL’and 4.0” will take place for the fourth time in Valmiera (Latvia). It is a DesignBuild summer course to go beyond the academic knowledge getting out of the classroom into the physical world of design and construction for city users of all generations – theatre festival guests and locals of Valmiera. This year, the summer school will continue to explore new preconditions for communication and distancing in the public space, looking for answers on how to create an urban environment for safe togetherness to hold an event in post-pandemic circumstances. The participants led by design professionals will generate ideas, design, and learn crafts of timber construction to create and build an instant spatial framework for audiovisual adventure at the theater festival centre.
We aim to encourage students to apply their theoretical knowledge, develop and train the skills in constructing amazing ideas in scale 1:1. The summer school is devoted to the idea of the contemporary ephemeral architecture and urban design elements as catalysts for important processes in the urban environments, perception, and usability of the city."
